Joseph R. Chinnici, Chairman of the Board
Joseph R. Chinnici joined our board of directors in July 2006 and made Chairman of the Board in Feburary 2008. Mr.Chinnici served as Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer at Ciena Corporation from August 1997 to December 2007. Mr.Chinnici served previously as Controller since joining Ciena in September 1994. From 1993 through 1994, Mr.Chinnici served as a financial consultant for Halston Borghese Inc. From 1977 to 1993, Mr.Chinnici held a variety of accounting and finance assignments for Playtex Apparel, Inc. (now a division of Sara Lee Corporation), ending this period as Director of Operations Accounting and Financial Analysis. Mr.Chinnici serves on the board of directors for Brix Networks, Inc. and Optium Corporation. He holds a B.S. degree in accounting from Villanova University and an M.B.A. from Southern Illinois University. |
John Becker, Independent
John Becker is the former chief executive officer of Cybertrust, acquired by Verizon Business in 2007. With more than 20 years of industry expertise, Mr. Becker is a seasoned technology professional with a demonstrated and extensive track record of success.
Prior to Cybertrust, Mr. Becker provided consultation to venture capital and technology firms. Before that, Mr. Becker was chairman and chief executive officer of AXENT Technologies, Inc. (AXENT), a publicly traded information security software and services company. Mr. Becker was instrumental in leading AXENT from start-up in 1994 to an initial public offering in 1996, and finally the sale of AXENT to Symantec Corporation for approximately $1 billion. Under Mr. Becker's leadership, AXENT was consistently recognized for achieving operational and financial excellence as a Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 50 and a Fast 500 award winner.

John Burris, Sourcefire
joined Sourcefire in July 2008 and serves as its Chief Executive Officer. Previously, John was a key contributor to the decade of growth achieved by Citrix Systems, Inc., a publicly traded information technology (Nasdaq:CTXS) company specializing in application delivery infrastructure. John served as Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Services at Citrix from January 2001 until July 2008 when he joined Sourcefire, during which time the company's annual revenues increased from $470 million to $1.4 billion, and before that, as Senior Vice President, Services from July 1999. John's leadership of Citrix's global sales and services organization, which grew to include approximately 2,500 Citrix professionals and 4,500 channel and distribution partners worldwide, was marked by the implementation of an innovative sales strategy which rewards value-added selling; the creation of a team of Enterprise Relationship Managers who support large accounts; the strengthening and realignment of Citrix's channel organization; and Citrix's aggressive expansion into high-growth markets across the globe. Additionally, John played a key role in managing many of the acquisition integrations at Citrix.
Prior to joining Citrix, Mr. Burris was employed by Lucent Technologies, a publicly traded communications networks company, from 1994 to 1999 as Vice President and General Manager of the Gulf States region. Prior to 1994, Mr. Burris was employed in various sales and customer service capacities for AT&T Corp., including terms as a managing director for AT&T's Australia (Sydney), Asia/Pacific (Hong Kong) as well as Europe (London) operations.

Asheem Chandna, Independent
Asheem Chandna joined our board of directors in May 2003 and is currently a
partner with Greylock Partners, a leading venture capital firm.
Asheem has over fifteen years in industry operating roles helping create,
grow and lead multiple technology businesses and product lines to market
leadership positions. Most recently, Asheem was vice-president of business
development and product management with Check Point Software Technologies
(CHKP), where during his 6.5 year tenure, Check Point experienced
exceptional growth and profitability - annual revenue grew almost
twenty-fold to over $500 million and company net margin increased to over
60% after tax, making Check Point one of the world's fastest growing and
most profitable companies. Asheem is also credited with creating, growing
and leading Check Point's OPSEC Alliance into the largest and most
successful security partner program in the IT industry. Prior to Check
Point, Asheem was vice president of marketing with CoroNet Systems (a
venture-backed startup acquired by Compuware), where he helped create and
define a new product category for application-aware network monitoring.
Previously, Asheem held strategic marketing and product line positions with
SynOptics/Bay Networks and AT&T Bell Laboratories.
Asheem represents Greylock on the board of directors at Imperva, Palo Alto
Networks, PortAuthority Technologies and Securent and is responsible for
Greylock's investment in Xsigo Systems. He was previously on the board at
CipherTrust (acquired by Secure Computing) and NetBoost (acquired by Intel).
Born and raised in India, Asheem holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical
and computer engineering from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland,

Tim Guleri, Sierra Ventures
Currently a managing director with Sierra Ventures, Tim specializes in
enterprise, and infrastructure software-focused companies.
Before joining Sierra Ventures, Tim was the Vice Chairman and Executive
Vice President with Epiphany; the chairman, CEO and co-founder of Octane
Software; Vice President of Field Operations, Product Marketing with Scopus
Technology; and was part of the information technology team with LSI Logic.
He also holds directorships of public and acquired companies, Octane Software
and Motiva, Inc., and of private companies, Net6, Sourcefire, Ventaso,
Spoke Software and iCode, Inc.
Tim holds a B.S. of Electrical Engineering from Punjab Engineering College,
India, and a M.S. of Engineering and Operational Research from Virginia

Steven R. Polk, Lieutenant General, US Air Force (ret.)
A thirty-eight year Air Force veteran, General Polk joined the Sourcefire board in August of 2006 after retiring in February of 2006 after serving as Inspector General of the Air Force since 2003. Previously, he served as Vice Commander, Pacific Air Forces, the number two officer in the command responsible for Air Force operations in the Pacific Rim region. Other postings included command of the 19th Air Force, of three fighter wings, and of a tactical fighter squadron. General Polk graduated from the Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering, from Arizona State University with a Master of Science in Engineering, and from the Naval War College with a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies. ^ top |
Arnold L. Punaro, Maj. General (ret.), Director
Maj. Gen. Arnold L. Punaro joined our board of directors in January 2007 and is currently Executive Vice President, Government Affairs, Communications and Support Operations and General Manager of Washington Operations for Science Applications International Corporation or SAIC. He is also a member of the Secretary of Defense Gate’s Defense Business Board and is currently chairing the statutory Commission on the National Guard and Reserves. Prior to joining SAIC in 1997, General Punaro worked for Senator Sam Nunn on national security matters from 1973 to 1997. During that time, General Punaro served as Senator Nunn’s director of national security affairs and as staff director of the Senate Armed Services Committee. General Punaro has served as the director of the Marine Corps Reserve from May 2001 until his retirement in October 2003. General Punaro has also served as deputy commanding general, Marine Corps Combat Development Command (Mobilization) from August 2000 until May 2001, and as the commanding general of the 4th Marine Division headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana from 1997 to 2000. Prior to joining SAIC, General Punaro served on active duty as an infantry platoon commander in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star for valor and the Purple Heart. As a reserve officer, he has served in Operation Desert Shield in Saudi Arabia in December 1990, Joint Task Force Provide Promise (Forward) in the former Yugoslavia in December 1993, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom in May 2003 and has served as both the Headquarters Marine Corps director of Reserve Affairs and as the special assistant to the commander, U.S. European Command.

Martin Roesch, Sourcefire Martin Roesch founded Sourcefire in 2001 and serves as its Chief Technology Officer. A respected authority on intrusion prevention and detection technology and forensics, he is responsible for the technical direction and product development efforts. Martin, who has 17 years industry experience in network security and embedded systems engineering, is also the author and lead developer of the SNORT® Intrusion Prevention and Detection System (www.snort.org) that forms the foundation for the Sourcefire 3D System.
Over the past 10 years, Martin has developed various network security tools and technologies, including intrusion prevention and detection systems, honeypots, network scanners, and policy enforcement systems for organizations such as GTE Internetworking, Stanford Telecommunications, Inc., and the Department of Defense. He has applied his knowledge of network security to penetration testing and network forensics for numerous government and large corporate customers. Martin has been interviewed as an industry expert in multiple technology publications, as well as print and online news services such as MSNBC, Wall Street Journal, CNET, ZDNet, and numerous books. Snort has been featured in Scientific American, on A&E's Secret Places: Inside the FBI, and in several books, such as Network Intrusion Detection: An Analysts Handbook, Intrusion Signatures and Analysis, Maximum Security, Hacking Exposed, and others.
In 2006, Martin was named as one of InformationWeek's 18 "Innovators and Influencers" and one of the Tech Council of Maryland's "Most Influential CTOs in Maryland." Martin has also been the recipient of the 2004 InfoWorld IT Heroes Innovator Award as well as winning the 2004 "40 Under 40" award from the Baltimore Business Journal.
