Steven R. Polk, Chairman of the Board
A thirty-eight year Air Force veteran, General Polk joined the Sourcefire board in August of 2006 and was named Chairman of the Board in February 2009. Prior to joining the Sourcefire board, he retired in February of 2006 as Inspector General of the Air Force since 2003. Previously, he served as Vice Commander, Pacific Air Forces, the number two officer in the command responsible for Air Force operations in the Pacific Rim region. Other postings included command of the 19th Air Force, of three fighter wings, and of a tactical fighter squadron.
General Polk graduated from the Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering, from Arizona State University with a Master of Science in Engineering, and from the Naval War College with a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies. |
John Becker, Independent
John Becker is the Chief Executive Officer of Approva Corporation. Prior to Approva, Mr. Becker was Chief Executive Officer of Cybertrust, acquired by Verizon Business in 2007. With more than 20 years of industry expertise, Mr. Becker is a seasoned technology professional with a demonstrated and extensive track record of success.
Prior to Cybertrust, Mr. Becker provided consultation to venture capital and technology firms. Before that, Mr. Becker was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AXENT Technologies, Inc. (AXENT), a publicly traded information security software and services company. Mr. Becker was instrumental in leading AXENT from start-up in 1994 to an initial public offering in 1996, and finally the sale of AXENT to Symantec Corporation for approximately $1 billion. Under Mr. Becker's leadership, AXENT was consistently recognized for achieving operational and financial excellence as a Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 50 and a Fast 500 award winner.
Mr. Becker holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Richmond.

John Burris, Sourcefire
joined Sourcefire in July 2008 and serves as its Chief Executive Officer. Previously, John was a key contributor to the decade of growth achieved by Citrix Systems, Inc., a publicly traded information technology (Nasdaq:CTXS) company specializing in application delivery infrastructure. John served as Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Services at Citrix from January 2001 until July 2008 when he joined Sourcefire, during which time the company's annual revenues increased from $470 million to $1.4 billion, and before that, as Senior Vice President, Services from July 1999. John's leadership of Citrix's global sales and services organization, which grew to include approximately 2,500 Citrix professionals and 4,500 channel and distribution partners worldwide, was marked by the implementation of an innovative sales strategy which rewards value-added selling; the creation of a team of Enterprise Relationship Managers who support large accounts; the strengthening and realignment of Citrix's channel organization; and Citrix's aggressive expansion into high-growth markets across the globe. Additionally, John played a key role in managing many of the acquisition integrations at Citrix.
Prior to joining Citrix, Mr. Burris was employed by Lucent Technologies, a publicly traded communications networks company, from 1994 to 1999 as Vice President and General Manager of the Gulf States region. Prior to 1994, Mr. Burris was employed in various sales and customer service capacities for AT&T Corp., including terms as a managing director for AT&T's Australia (Sydney), Asia/Pacific (Hong Kong) as well as Europe (London) operations.

Michael Cristinziano, Independent
Michael Cristinziano joined the Sourcefire board of directors in March 2009 and is currently Corporate Vice President, Strategic Development at Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTXS), where he is responsible for several corporate finance functions, including M&A strategy and execution, technology licensing, strategic venture investments and investor relations. Michael also serves as a member of the Citrix CTO Office. Prior to joining Citrix Systems in 2003, Mr. Cristinziano was a Managing Director at Harris Nesbitt, the U.S. investment banking arm of BMO Financial Group, where he covered the networking and software industries. Before joining Harris Nesbitt in 1997, Mr. Cristinziano worked as a research analyst at Needham & Co. Prior to that he was a member of the technical staff at Bellcore. Mr. Cristinziano also serves on the Board of directors of Bridgewater Systems Corporation.
Mr. Cristinziano holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Temple University, an M.S. in Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and completed post-graduate studies at Carnegie Mellon University. ^ top |
Tim Guleri, Independent
Currently a managing director with Sierra Ventures, Mr. Guleri specializes in
enterprise, and infrastructure software-focused companies.
Before joining Sierra Ventures, Tim was the Vice Chairman and Executive
Vice President with Epiphany; the chairman, CEO and co-founder of Octane
Software; Vice President of Field Operations, Product Marketing with Scopus
Technology; and was part of the information technology team with LSI Logic.
He also holds directorships of public and acquired companies, Sourcefire, Net6, Octane Software
and Motiva, Inc., and of private companies, Ventaso,
Spoke Software and iCode, Inc.

Martin Roesch, Sourcefire Martin Roesch founded Sourcefire in 2001 and serves as its Chief Technology Officer. A respected authority on intrusion prevention and detection technology and forensics, he is responsible for the technical direction and product development efforts. Martin, who has 17 years industry experience in network security and embedded systems engineering, is also the author and lead developer of the Snort® Intrusion Prevention and Detection System (www.snort.org) that forms the foundation for the Sourcefire 3D System.
Over the past 10 years, Martin has developed various network security tools and technologies, including intrusion prevention and detection systems, honeypots, network scanners, and policy enforcement systems for organizations such as GTE Internetworking, Stanford Telecommunications, Inc., and the Department of Defense. He has applied his knowledge of network security to penetration testing and network forensics for numerous government and large corporate customers. Martin has been interviewed as an industry expert in multiple technology publications, as well as print and online news services such as MSNBC, Wall Street Journal, CNET, ZDNet, and numerous books. Snort has been featured in Scientific American, on A&E's Secret Places: Inside the FBI, and in several books, such as Network Intrusion Detection: An Analysts Handbook, Intrusion Signatures and Analysis, Maximum Security, Hacking Exposed, and others.
In 2006, Martin was named as one of InformationWeek's 18 "Innovators and Influencers" and one of the Tech Council of Maryland's "Most Influential CTOs in Maryland." Martin has also been the recipient of the 2004 InfoWorld IT Heroes Innovator Award as well as winning the 2004 "40 Under 40" award from the Baltimore Business Journal.
