The Sourcefire VRT is aware of multiple vulnerabilities affecting Microsoft products.

Details:

Microsoft Security Advisory MS09-018: The Microsoft Windows LDAP implementation contains programming errors that may allow a remote attacker to execute code on an affected system. Rules to detect attacks targeting these vulnerabilities are included in this release and are identified with GID 3, SIDs 15522 and 15527. Microsoft Security Advisory MS09-019: Microsoft Internet Explorer contains multiple vulnerabilities that may allow a remote attacker to execute code on a vulnerable system. Rules to detect attacks targeting these vulnerabilities are included in this release and are identified with GID 3, SIDs 15529, 15531, 15534 through 15536, 15538 and 15540. Additionally, a previously released rule identified with GID 1, SID 7070 will also detect attacks targeting these vulnerabilities. Microsoft Security Advisory MS09-027: Microsoft Word contains a programming error that may allow a remote attacker to execute code on a vulnerable system. Rules to detect attacks targeting this vulnerability are included in this release and are identified with GID 3, SIDs 15524 and 15525. Microsoft Security Advisory MS09-021: Microsoft Excel contains programming errors that may allow a remote attacker to execute code on an affected system. Microsoft Security Advisory MS09-022: The Microsoft Print Spooler Service contains programming errors that may allow a remote attacker to execute code on a vulnerable system. Rules to detect attacks targeting these vulnerabilities are included in this release and are identified with GID 3, SIDs 15523 and 15528. Microsoft Security Advisory MS09-024: The Microsoft Works font converter contains a programming error that may allow a remote attacker to execute code on a vulnerable system. A rule to detect attacks targeting this vulnerability is included in this release and is identified with GID 3, SID 15526. Microsoft Security Advisory MS09-020: Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) contains programming errors that may allow a remote attacker to access information from the server without the need for authentication. These vulnerabilities are detected by the HTTP Inspect preprocessor. Additionally, this release contains a bug fix for a previously released rule identified with GID 3, SID 13954 that may, under some circumstances, cause performance issues.
