The Sourcefire VRT is aware of multiple vulnerabilities affecting Microsoft products.
Microsoft Security Advisory (MS09-045): The Microsoft JScript scripting engine contains a programming error that may allow a remote attacker to execute code on an affected host. A rule to detect attacks targeting this issue is included in this release and is identified with GID 3, SID 15913. Microsoft Security Advisory (MS09-046): The Microsoft DHTML Editing Component ActiveX control contains a programming error that may allow a remote attacker to execute code on an affected system. Rules to detect attacks targeting this issue are included in this release and are identified with GID 1, SIDs 15923, 15924 and 15925. A previously released rule will also detect attacks targeting this vulnerability and is identified with GID 1, SID 4148. Microsoft Security Advisory (MS09-047): A programming error in the way that Microsoft Windows systems parse certain types of Windows media files, may allow a remote attacker to execute code on an affected system. Rules to detect attacks targeting this issue are included in this release and are identified with GID 3, SIDs 15914 through 15920. Microsoft Security Advisory (MS09-048): A vulnerability exists in the Microsoft Windows TCP/IP stack that may allow a remote attacker to execute code on an affected system. A rule to detect attacks targeting this issue is included in this release and is identified with GID 3, SID 15912. Additionally, the Stream preprocessor can be configured to detect attacks targeting this issue. Microsoft SMB2 Denial of Service (DoS): A vulnerability in the way that Microsoft Windows systems process SMB2.0 transactions may allow a remote attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) against a vulnerable machine. A rule to detect attacks targeting this issue is included in this release and is identified with GID 1, SID 15930.
