Vulnerabilities Affecting Products from Adobe Systems, HP and Symantec

The Sourcefire VRT is aware of multiple vulnerabilities affecting products from Adobe Systems, HP and Symantec.

Details: 

Adobe Flash Player Remote Code Execution (CVE-2010-2216): Adobe Flash Player contains a programming error that may allow a remote attacker to execute code on an affected system. The problem occurs when the application fails to properly handle malformed data.

A rule to detect attacks targeting this vulnerability is included in this release and is identified with GID 3, SID 17141.

Adobe Flash Player ActionScript Memory Corruption (CVE-2010-0209): Adobe Flash Player suffers from a programming error that may allow a remote attacker to execute code on an affected system. The problem occurs when the application attempts to parse specially crafted ActionScript which can lead to memory corruption and code execution.

A rule to detect attacks targeting this vulnerability is included in this release and is identified with GID 3, SID 17142.

Additionally, new rules have been added to address attacks targeting known vulnerabilities in HP and Symantec software.
